Hope in Isolation
I was honoured to be part of this collaborative "Online Documentation Exhibition" showcasing emerging artists in response to the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic. Reinventing the message behind the leading title was my starting point for analysis and the search for my narrative. Conceptually my focus was to re-create the Hope in Isolation poster by replacing the "Vertical Centre Line" with a human-skull hybrid sculpt. A notable feature is the intentional compositional placement, the subject is in total isolation whilst the centre is complex and chaotic, representing our current state of affairs, a life vs existence symbiosis. Type treatment fragmentation and glitches in the word "Hope" symbolise technology as our only method to crutch humanity through this hardship. All this comes packaged in an airtight, highly sanitised, ultra clinical life restraining plastic bag we are all trying to break free from.
